Baseball Recap: Mount Miguel's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Mount Miguel had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the San Jacinto Tigers on Wednesday.

Emilo Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alfredo Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Diego Soto also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Rodriguez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Mount Miguel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Jacinto only managed seven hits.

Mount Miguel's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for San Jacinto, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Mount Miguel has already played their next contest, a 12-2 win against Vincent Memorial on the 3rd. As for San Jacinto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-0 victory against El Cajon Valley on the 3rd.
