Volleyball Recap: Neuse Charter Find Success

Neuse Charter won the last time they faced Raleigh Charter and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cougars came out on top against the Phoenix by a score of 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20.

Layla Johnson paced Neuse Charter's offense, picking up 22 kills. Johnson got some help from Mikayla Leonard and her 17 assists. Johnson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Several Phoenix players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaylin Sheng, who had 14 digs and three aces. Fiona Shipman was another key player, getting five kills, four blocks, and four aces.

Neuse Charter now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Raleigh Charter, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Neuse Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Rosewood on the 29th. As for Raleigh Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Roxboro Community on the 30th.
