Baseball Game Preview: San Ysidro Cougars vs. Bonita Vista Barons

For the second straight game, San Ysidro will face off against Bonita Vista. The Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Barons at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. San Ysidro's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Bonita Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

San Ysidro's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Bonita Vista hitters got past them. The Cougars lost 12-1 to the Barons on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Barons: they've now lost seven in a row.

For Bonita Vista's part, NICO CHAVEZ looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, CHAVEZ posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Bonita Vista got a massive performance out of KENSEN JOHNSON, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI JOHNSON has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was TYLER MAULA, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Bonita Vista lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Bonita Vista's third in a row) raised their record to 9-13. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for San Ysidro, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
