Basketball Recap: Filer Wildcats vs. Gooding Senators

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Filer Wildcats's strategy against the Gooding Senators on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Filer blew the Senators out of the water with a 70-42 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Filer had established a 21 point advantage.

Filer had a senior duo take command as Kate Jaques scored 13 points along with seven assists and six steals and Hazel Fischer scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Jaques hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Tanli Lemoyne, who scored nine points along with three steals.

Defeat or not, Gooding got some senior leadership from Izzie Stockham and Audrey Schilder. Stockham scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Schilder. scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. Stockham has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Filer pushed their record up to 11-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Gooding, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
