Basketball Recap: Halifax Academy Takes a Loss

Halifax Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 73-55 fall against the Rocky Mount Academy Eagles. The Vikings were down 57-37 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Defeat or not, Halifax Academy got some senior leadership from Landon Peoples and Thad Harris. Peoples dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards, while Harris posted 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Harris is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. Avery Boone was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Halifax Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Hank Berry was his usual excellent self, earning 25 points and five rebounds for Rocky Mount Academy. The team also got some help courtesy of Gehrig Miller, who had 16 points.

Halifax Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Rocky Mount Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Halifax Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rocky Mount Academy, they will face off against Faith Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mount Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season.
