Baseball Recap: LeRoy Triumphs

LeRoy took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Fieldcrest, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers skirted past the Knights 10-8. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Braeden Fox was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Fox was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Bo Zeleznik and Kobe Brent did most of the damage at the plate: Zeleznik scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Brent scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Brent has become a key player for LeRoy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

LeRoy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

LeRoy's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Fieldcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Looking ahead, LeRoy will face off against Cornerstone Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cyclones have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fieldcrest, they will take on Putnam County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
