Baseball Recap: Cardinal Newman Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jupiter, Cardinal Newman was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Okeechobee Brahmans. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not much got past Max Gonzalez, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Okeechobee off the board. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Gonzalez.

At the plate, Dominic Demarzo was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Cardinal Newman's victory bumped their record up to 21-3-1. As for Okeechobee, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-11.

Cardinal Newman wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against St. John Paul II Academy on the 15th. As for Okeechobee, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-5 victory against Centennial on the 11th.
