Baseball Game Preview: Woodmore Wildcats vs. Cardinal Stritch Cardinals

The Woodmore Wildcats will take on the Cardinal Stritch Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Friday, Woodmore came up short against Calvert and fell 8-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Senecas: they've now lost three in a row.

Woodmore got a good showing from Keil Almroth, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Harry LaMunyon was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Calvin Lipstraw also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Stritch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 4-1 to Northwood.

Woodmore's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Cardinal Stritch, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Woodmore came out on top in a nail-biter against Cardinal Stritch in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
