Volleyball Recap: Huntington North Takes a Loss

Huntington North lost against DeKalb back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Vikings took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Barons. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Barons 25-18 in the first set.

Huntington North started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-23, 30-28, 25-17.

Grace Anderson paced Huntington North's offense, picking up ten kills. Anderson got some help from Myah Eltzroth and her 17 assists. Eltzroth was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Huntington North has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for DeKalb, they moved to 6-14 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Huntington North and DeKalb could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Vikings (ranked 250th) will meet East Noble (ranked 66th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, DeKalb will challenge Norwell at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (270 vs. 59).
