Preview: Plainfield Central Wildcats vs. Plainfield South Cougars
The Plainfield Central Wildcats will be playing at home against the Plainfield South Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Plainfield Central is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Plainfield Central was the victim of a tough 65-40 loss at the hands of Romeoville. While losing is never fun, Plainfield Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while Romeoville is ranked 164th).
Meanwhile, even though Plainfield East scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Plainfield South still came out on top. Plainfield South managed a 61-56 victory over Plainfield East. That's two games straight that Plainfield South has won by exactly five points.
Plainfield South had a senior duo take command as Destynia Mcgruder dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds and Jazlynn Foster dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. The contest was Foster's third in a row with at least ten points. Demi Page was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 7 rebounds.
Plainfield Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Plainfield South, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Plainfield Central came up short against Plainfield South when the teams last played back in February, falling 52-48. Can Plainfield Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
