Preview: Canby Cougars vs. Annie Wright Gators
Having just played yesterday, the Canby Cougars will get right back to it and host the Annie Wright Gators at 12:00 p.m. on December 19th. The timing isn't great for Canby: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Annie Wright has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Even though Canby has not done well against Tigard recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Canby came out on top in a nail-biter against Tigard and snuck past 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Canby's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaxon Lawson led the charge by scoring 17 points. The matchup was Lawson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trevin Slagle, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Prosser scored an imposing 61 points on Monday, Annie Wright still came out on top. Annie Wright strolled past Prosser with points to spare, taking the game 75-61.
The win got Canby back to even at 2-2. As for Annie Wright, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
