Baseball Recap: Southwest Covenant Finds Home Field Redemption Against Varsity Opponent

There's no place like home for Southwest Covenant, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Varsity Opponent by a score of 8-3 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against Varsity Opponent last Monday, they had to take a 13-8 defeat.

Gavyn Beshears spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Southwest Covenant is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise.

At the plate, Tate Flanary was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Nick Armitage also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Southwest Covenant now has a winning record of 4-3.

Southwest Covenant will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Christian Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on March 24th. As for Varsity Opponent, they have already played their next matchup, a 9-3 loss against Dalton on the 13th.
