Baseball Recap: Dubois Central Catholic Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

DuBois Central Catholic let Brockway stack five runs on them in the fifth inning on Monday but luckily DuBois Central Catholic prevailed anyway. The Cardinals came out on top against the Rovers by a score of 10-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 back in April.

Carter Himes was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Himes was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Brayden Zatsick was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Marek Hoyt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

DuBois Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brockway only posted an OBP of .364.

DuBois Central Catholic's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Brockway, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DuBois Central Catholic will host Moniteau at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Brockway, they will welcome Cameron County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rovers will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: the Raiders will have lost four straight heading into Thursday's game.
