Softball Recap: Dinwiddie Wins Going Away Against Petersburg

Dinwiddie got themselves on the board against Petersburg on Thursday, but Petersburg never followed suit. They blew past the Crimson Wave 22-0. That 22 run margin sets a new team best for the Generals this season.

Emily Jordan and Addison Everett were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Jordan pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Everett struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Jordan has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Jordan went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Everett got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Those runs were Jordan's first of the season.

In other batting news, Dinwiddie got a massive performance out of Nala Bain, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Bain a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kimball Crowder, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Dinwiddie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .812. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Dinwiddie now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Petersburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coincidentally, Dinwiddie and Petersburg will both be playing Hopewell the next time they take the field. The Generals will host the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Crimson Wave will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
