Softball Game Preview: Bishop Brady Giants vs. Conant Orioles

The Bishop Brady Giants are taking a road trip to challenge the Conant Orioles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Brady is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games.

Bishop Brady is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Hampshire's top teams: Monadnock, who was ranked 11th at the time (Bishop Brady was ranked tenth). The Giants skirted past the Huskies 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Giants have posted since April 16th.

Payton Bryson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ava Archambault was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Conant's offense. They came up short against Prospect Mountain on Wednesday, falling 15-0. The Orioles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bishop Brady's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Conant, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Bishop Brady came out on top in a nail-biter against Conant in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Giants repeat their success, or do the Orioles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
