Baseball Preview: Victor Blue Devils vs. Webster Thomas Titans
The Victor Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Webster Thomas Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Victor let Rush-Henrietta stack five runs on them in the fifth inning on Monday but luckily Victor prevailed anyway. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Royal Comets by a score of 10-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.
Webster Thomas not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 13th (when they won 10-0). They put the hurt on Churchville-Chili with a sharp 10-0 win. With that victory, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Not much got past Max Seaver, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Churchville-Chili off the board. Seaver has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sean Griffin and Max Bowers did most of the damage at the plate: Griffin went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Bowers went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Griffin a new career-high. Daniel Check also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Webster Thomas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Churchville-Chili only managed one.
Webster Thomas now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Victor, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Everything went Victor's way against Webster Thomas in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Victor made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
