Basketball Recap: Kolbe-Cathedral Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kolbe-Cathedral). They snuck past the Weston Trojans with a 78-73 win on Friday. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Kolbe-Cathedral was led to victory by Jayden Desir and Lucas Pivovar. Desir went 7 of 12 en route to 24 points, while Pivovar went 7 for 16 on his way to 24 points. With that strong performance, Pivovar is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahlil Peoples-McClain, who posted 16 points.

Kolbe-Cathedral's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Weston, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Kolbe-Cathedral will challenge Notre Dame Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Notre Dame Prep will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Kolbe-Cathedral surely won't give up without a fight. As for Weston, they will square off against Joel Barlow at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Weston is facing Joel Barlow at the right time seeing as Joel Barlow is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
