Kewanee is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monmouth-Roseville Titans at 4:30 p.m. Kewanee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Kewanee barely beat Macomb the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Boilermakers blew past the Bombers 14-3 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Boilermakers.

Colson Welgat made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, Ace LaFollette was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Kewanee: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Abram Hicks was another key player, scoring two runs.
Kewanee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Titans on Thursday. Monmouth-Roseville came out on top in a nail-biter against Hamilton/Warsaw, sneaking past 5-3. The victory continues a trend for Monmouth-Roseville in their matchups with Hamilton/Warsaw: they've now won four in a row.
The win got Kewanee back to even at 4-4. As for Monmouth-Roseville, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kewanee has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Monmouth-Roseville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
