Baseball Recap: Purvis' Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Purvis came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 18-8 to the St. Patrick Fighting Irish. The Tornadoes' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Kade Lawler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, JoJo Parker and Jacob Parker did some serious damage despite the final result: JoJo scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Jacob scored a run while going 2-for-4. JoJo is becoming a predictor of Purvis' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 16-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Hudson Walker was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Purvis' defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for St. Patrick, they pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Purvis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Patrick, they will head out on the road to challenge Enterprise at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Fighting Irish's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
