Baseball Recap: Tocoi Creek Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Tocoi Creek put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for DeLand. The Toros put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 7-0 win. The Toros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Bryson Williams's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emmett Pellegrino, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Sizemore, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Tocoi Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Tocoi Creek, bringing their record up to 9-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for DeLand, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tocoi Creek will face off against West Nassau at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for DeLand, they will square off against Providence School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
