Basketball Recap: Anton Mahler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hillcrest over Mountain View

Hillcrest has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 64-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain View Bruins on Saturday. The Huskies were not able to make up for their loss to the Bruins from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Hillcrest lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Anton Mahler, who posted 15 points and three steals. Ezra Bell was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Mountain View had a senior duo take command as Brennan Olsen went 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points and Coleman Pearson put up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Goodman, who had 12 points.

Hillcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Mountain View, they moved to 4-7 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Hillcrest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-39 loss against Highland on the 31st. As for Mountain View, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 83-70 win against American Leadership Academy on the 30th.
