Softball Game Preview: Steinert Spartans vs. St. John-Vianney Lancers

The Steinert Spartans will challenge the St. John-Vianney Lancers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Steinert 1.8, St. John-Vianney 0.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Monday, Steinert didn't have quite enough to beat Hightstown and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. John-Vianney, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Wall Township a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

St. John-Vianney has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Steinert, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 16-3.

Steinert came out on top in a nail-biter against St. John-Vianney in their previous meeting back in June of 2018, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
