Baseball Game Preview: Schaumburg Saxons vs. Zion-Benton Zee-Bees

The Schaumburg Saxons will square off against the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Schaumburg came up short against Evergreen Park and fell 9-5. The Saxons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, while Zion-Benton put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Waukegan. The Zee-Bees were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The Zee-Bees haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Zion-Benton got a great performance from Andrew Mitchell as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Mitchell has become a key player for the Zee-Bees: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 5-20 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Michael Gonzalez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Brayden Duran was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Schaumburg's loss dropped their record down to 9-24. As for Zion-Benton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-20.
