Baseball Game Preview: Adams Cougars vs. Poteet Pirates

Adams is 0-5 against Poteet since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cougars will take on the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Adams has ten straight victories, Poteet has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Adams' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Samuell. Considering the Cougars have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Xavier Gomez, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Emilio Wong also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Adams always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They are 10-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Poteet came up short against Horn on Saturday and fell 5-1.

Adams' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Poteet, they now have a losing record of 12-13-2.
