Football Recap: Villa Park Comes Up Short

The Villa Park Spartans came up short against the Western Pioneers on Friday and fell 27-20.

A big part of Western's win came down to the chemistry between Chance Thomas and his top target Maxwell 'Bunchie' Young. Thomas threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns while Young picked up 122 receiving yards and three TDs. The dominant performance also gave Thomas a new career-high in rushing yards (81). Skylar Lendsey was another key player, rushing for 96 yards on only nine carries.

Villa Park's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Western, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Villa Park will take on Upland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Western, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Huntington Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
