Baseball Preview: Wendell Trojans vs. Soda Springs Cardinals
The Wendell Trojans will take on the Soda Springs Cardinals in a tournament on Thursday. Wendell is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Things were looking good for Wendell after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Firth by a score of 7-6.
Deegan Prince put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Julian Ponce was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Soda Springs didn't have quite enough to beat Declo on Wednesday and fell 8-7. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
