Baseball Recap: Montwood Drops Highest Score of Season Against Pebble Hills

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montwood). They came out on top against the Pebble Hills Spartans by a score of 15-10 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Montwood got a massive performance out of Tommy Bernal, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Bernal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Vasquez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Montwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Montwood now has a winning record of 9-8-2. As for Pebble Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montwood will take on Coronado at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Montwood will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. Pebble Hills will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on April 1st.
