Basketball Recap: North Newton Comes Up Short

North Newton and Tri-County squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but North Newton had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Tri-County Cavaliers and fell 63-16. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.

June Busboom was North Newton's leading scorer, having posted six points. Macy Busboom held things down on the boards with four rebounds. Addison Culbreth took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Tri-County was led to victory by Hannah Arvin and Sara Zarse. Arvin went 8 of 11 to rack up 19 points in addition to six boards and six steals, while Zarse almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave Zarse a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Luck, who posted six points and six steals.

North Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Tri-County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-2.

North Newton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tri-County, they have already played their next contest, a 51-25 win against West Central on the 7th.
