The Scranton Prep Cavaliers will venture away from home to challenge the Mid Valley Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Scranton Prep took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Valley View by a score of 5-2. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Johnny Petrosky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Paul Rusincovitch, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Scranton Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-11 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Mid Valley had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against Greater Nanticoke Area on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Nick Mills was incredible, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Anthony Balashaitis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mid Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Scranton Prep, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12.
Scranton Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Mid Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2019, sneaking past 9-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
