Erinn Knapp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Troy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddyson Muir, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Sydnee Bellows also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for North Penn-Liberty, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.
On North Penn-Liberty's side, they also let their pitcher toss all eight innings and she was also dialed-in: Elyna Booth gave up just two earned runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Haley Litzelman and Madison Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Litzelman went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Smith went 2-for-4 with one home run and one triple. Another player making a difference was Julia Kaczynski, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Looking ahead, Troy will challenge Athens at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for North Penn-Liberty, they will square off against Cowanesque Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mountie's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
