League recap: Redwater scores huge upset over Mt. Vernon

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Redwater, who defeated 563rd ranked Mt. Vernon, 42-6.

The Dragons moved up to 574 from 619 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region II District 8. Redwater was able to move up by beating the Tigers 42-6.

Prairiland's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zac Pointer threw for 154 and 3 touchdowns and Josh Harrison had 74 yards receiving. On the ground Colton Lewis contributed 36 yards. Brian Jones helped Prairiland's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 32 yards.

The Patriots' dynamic duo of Pointer and Harrison proved to be unstoppable against New Boston, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jones helped Prairiland's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 32 yards.

He was 12-24 with 1 interception.

Mt. Vernon's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sam Alston has thrown for 1,091 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Kris Ables has 31 catches for 516 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Mt. Vernon takes on the Lions. Michael Alexander's team's offense has scored 164 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while New Boston has allowed only 127 on the year.

As it stands, the Tigers are in fifth, while the Lions are in first.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Daingerfield beat Queen City 35-6. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
