Baseball Recap: Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences Patriots vs. Red Bank Lions
Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 12-18 to make it five. They came up short against the Red Bank Lions, falling 16-6. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to the Lions when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Red Bank, their record is now 17-15. Considering they have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
For Red Bank's part, Tramell Davis Jr. made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave Davis Jr. a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Red Bank's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 12-14 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Red Bank let Demetruss Wilbur and Calvin Bean run wild. Wilbur went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Bean went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Wilbur has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayveonn Bonds, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Looking ahead, Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences will square off against Silverdale Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Red Bank, they will take on Walker Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
