Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Panthers vs. Tarkington Longhorns

The Liberty Panthers will take on the Tarkington Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Liberty is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Shepherd on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. 2025 welcomed Liberty with a 66-41 loss courtesy of Shepherd. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1041st, while the Pirates are ranked 518th).

Meanwhile, Tarkington unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Hamshire-Fannett by a score of 47-45.

Tarkington's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-5. As for Liberty, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 10-14.
