Softball Game Preview: Apex Friendship Patriots vs. Green Hope Falcons

The Apex Friendship Patriots will take on the Green Hope Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Apex Friendship fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Heritage on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 12-11. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Catt Poneleit stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Cheyenne Christman was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Apex Friendship lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Green Hope fell victim to Holly Springs and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 20-0 to the Golden Hawks. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Falcons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Apex Friendship's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Green Hope, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Everything went Apex Friendship's way against Green Hope in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Apex Friendship made off with a 15-0 win. Will Apex Friendship repeat their success, or does Green Hope have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
