Volleyball Recap: Carrizo Springs Comes Up Short

Carrizo Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highlands Owls. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Owls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Paulina Lira paced Carrizo Springs' offense, picking up five kills. Lira were helped by Joselyn DeLuna and Giada Gonzalez, who contributed three assists each. DeLuna was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Leading Highlands to victory were Linden Sepulveda and Autumn Lopez. Sepulveda had 21 digs and two assists, while Lopez had four digs and two aces. That's the most digs Lopez has posted over her last five matches.

Carrizo Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Highlands, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

Carrizo Springs has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Dilley on the 2nd. As for Highlands, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Holmes on the 30th.
