Solon has gone 8-1 against Independence recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Solon Spartans will look to defend their home court against the Independence Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Independence took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Solon, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Solon beat West Delaware 65-61. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Hawks are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Mt. Vernon, falling 66-46.

Solon's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Solon strolled past Independence in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 67-51. Will Solon repeat their success, or does Independence have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
