Softball Recap: Malvern Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mills University Studies

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Malvern). They never let the Mills University Studies Comets get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Leopards have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendall Watson was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Joynt, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Reese Dedman was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Malvern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .690. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win (which was Malvern's third in a row) raised their record to 10-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Mills University Studies, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Malvern will welcome Bauxite at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mills University Studies, they are taking a road trip to challenge Fountain Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
