League recap: Glenn Hills rises in state rank

AAAA Region 3B recap October 8, 2013

Glenn Hills scaled the state rankings by moving to 317 from 354 this week, the biggest jump in AAAA Region 3B. The Spartans were able to move up by falling to Liberty County 21-19.

Cross Creek lost to South Effingham 33-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Hephzibah's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Stephon Washington threw for 62 and 1 touchdown and Ke'Oddis Stokes had 43 yards receiving. On the ground Wallace Curtis contributed 123 yards. Darrell Baker helped Hephzibah's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 19 yards.

The Rebels' dynamic duo of Washington and Stokes proved to be unstoppable against Butler, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Baker helped Hephzibah's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 19 yards.

Curtis was a passing and rushing force as Hephzibah beat the Bulldogs.

Glenn Hills' Santo Nina and Earlmonquez Cobb led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Nina has thrown for 430 yards this season, while Cobb has 15 catches for 304 yards. Travis Beatty from Academy of Richmond County leads the league in rushing with 427 yards.

The Musketeers' offense has scored 79 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Burke County has allowed only 81 on the year.

As it stands, the Bears are in first, while Academy of Richmond County is in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Burke County takes on Chris Hughes' team. Eric Parker's team has allowed 81 points this season, while the Musketeers have given up 117.

The Bears led the league in scoring this week after putting up 32 points on Wayne County.
