Basketball Recap: Pine Creek Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pine Creek can now relate to. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grandview Wolves on Thursday. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Defeat or not, Pine Creek got some senior leadership from Brooklyn Stewart and Leekaya Burke-Perryman. Stewart went 6-for-9 en route to 16 points, while Burke-Perryman posted 13 points. Burke-Perryman continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Leading Grandview to victory were Sienna Betts and Deija Roberson. Betts shot 80% from the field to rack up 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Roberson went 6-for-10 on her way to 14 points and five boards. Betts has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 47 times she's played. Ava Chang was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Pine Creek's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-3. As for Grandview, they pushed their record up to 24-3 with the victory, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season.

Pine Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grandview, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-39 win against Legend on the 15th.
