Baseball Recap: Bishop Hartley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Centennial

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Hartley). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Centennial Stars a 12-0 shutout on Thursday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Stars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Malcolm Gillies tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Bishop Hartley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 11-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nick Galich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Mertz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Bishop Hartley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only posted an OBP of .222.

Bishop Hartley pushed their record up to 15-12 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Centennial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.
