Softball Game Preview: Loyola College Prep Flyers vs. North Caddo Titans

The Loyola College Prep Flyers will head out to square off against the North Caddo Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Loyola College Prep has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Loyola College Prep came up short against Caddo Magnet on Wednesday, falling 11-1. The Flyers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Meanwhile, North Caddo duked it out with Green Oaks. in a Mythical Matchup on Wednesday. North Caddo was the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Green Oaks. With that victory, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Kylee Tunstall looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nataleigh Ball, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Gracie Garner was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

North Caddo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Loyola College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for North Caddo, their record is now 3-5.

Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Loyola College Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like North Caddo struggles in that department as they've averaged .475. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Loyola College Prep couldn't quite get it done against North Caddo when the teams last played back in February as they fell 6-1. Can Loyola College Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
