Soccer Game Preview: Pendleton vs. Walhalla

The Pendleton Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Walhalla Razorbacks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Pendleton beats Walhalla with five goals on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over Crescent on Thursday. It was an even better day for Matthew Chapman as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, Walhalla came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.6 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Warriors an 8-0 shutout. Given Walhalla's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 40th, while West-Oak are ranked 173rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pendleton's record is now 8-5. As for Walhalla, their record now sits at 13-2.

Pendleton suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Walhalla when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
