Soccer Game Preview: Monticello vs. Alleghany

The Monticello Mustangs will face off against the Alleghany Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Monticello's offense. They fell 2-0 to Fluvanna County on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Alleghany came up short against Glenvar last Tuesday, falling 6-1. While losing is never fun, Alleghany can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Glenvar are ranked 11th).

Alleghany's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Monticello, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6-2 record this season.
