Basketball Recap: Babcock Comes Up Short

Babcock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy Eagles. The Trailblazers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 52-46.

Despite the loss, Babcock still got an impressive performance from Jameson Habing, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Habing has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elisiah McDaniel, who posted four points.

Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy found their leader in sophomore Gavin Henderson, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points along with five boards and three steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Henderson has scored at least a third of Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor DeChiara, who scored six points.

Babcock's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14.

Babcock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy has also already played their next match, a 54-47 loss against Bradenton Christian on the 27th.
