Football Game Preview: East Jefferson Warriors vs. Bonnabel Bruins + Official Tickets

East Jefferson is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Bonnabel Bruins at 7:00 p.m. East Jefferson is looking for their season's first win.

East Jefferson is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against McDonogh 35 on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Warriors were outmatched by the Roneagles and fell 53-14. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Roneagles are ranked 99th).

Although East Jefferson took the loss, they still got scores from Harry Haynes and Treylon Williams.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed eight in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Williams, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bonnabel). They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy. The Bruins have beaten the Swamp Owls the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Swamp Owls has come to flipping the script.

East Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Bonnabel, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-3.

East Jefferson strolled past Bonnabel in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 28-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
