Soccer Game Preview: Whetstone vs. Thomas Worthington

The Whetstone Braves will face off against the Thomas Worthington CARDINALS at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Whetstone will be strutting in after a victory while Thomas Worthington will be coming in after a defeat.

Whetstone took a six-goal loss the last time they faced off against Upper Arlington, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Braves had just enough and edged out the Golden Bears 3-2. Whetstone better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Jules Higgins, as he scored every single goal for his team.

Meanwhile, Thomas Worthington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Dublin Jerome. While losing is never fun, Thomas Worthington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Dublin Jerome are ranked fourth).

Whetstone is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those 12 contests. As for Thomas Worthington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6-2.

Whetstone might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Thomas Worthington in their previous meeting back in August. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
