Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Wolves vs. Weed Cougars

Trinity is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out on the road to square off against the Weed Cougars at 2:00 p.m. Trinity is looking for their season's first victory.

Trinity came up short against Hayfork on Monday, falling 10-2.

Biggs hit Weed with a seven-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars lost 14-4 to the Wolverines. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Braeden Cordes was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jackson Keen made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Weed is 4-2 when Keen posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise.

Weed now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Trinity, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Trinity suffered a grim 25-0 defeat to Weed in their previous meeting on March 12th. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
