Recap: Franklin County Seahawks vs. Lincoln Trojans

The Franklin County Seahawks pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 72-59 defeat to Lincoln. While losing is never fun, Franklin County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while Lincoln is ranked 106th).

Several Seahawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremiah Allen, who scored 12 points. Ethan Kembro was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Franklin County were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln only racked up 21 assists.

Lincoln found their leader in underclassman Malakhi Lowe, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Keelen Coley, who scored 11 points along with four steals.

Franklin County's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Lincoln, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin County will take on North Bay Haven Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Bay Haven Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Lincoln won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Maclay at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th.
