Football Recap: Sunray Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Sunray's offense. They were beaten by the Stratford Elks 61-0 on Friday. The Bobcats just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Zeke Grajeda threw for 66 yards on eight of 23 attempts. Dominik Dominguez was his top target, picking up 44 receiving yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stratford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darius Jones, who picked up 143 receiving yards and three TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Jones a new career-high. Abraham Goss was another key rusher, rushing for 121 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

Sunray's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Stratford, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunray will host Childress at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stratford, they will welcome Texico at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
