Softball Game Preview: Berea-Midpark Titans vs. Mentor Cardinals

The Berea-Midpark Titans will square off against the Mentor Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Berea-Midpark is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Elyria. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Mentor waltzed into their contest on Monday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 10-3 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Maggie Haydu made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Haydu was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Maddie Menough was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Sophia Smalley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Mentor's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Berea-Midpark, their win bumped their record up to 19-6.
